Hartford Court Stone Côte Chardonnay 2018

Hartford Court Stone Côte Chardonnay 2018 is a bold, characterful California Chardonnay that stands out for its intensity and mineral backbone. Sourced from the highly regarded Stone Côte Vineyard within Durrell Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, it combines small, concentrated fruit with a distinctive sense of place. The result is a wine with both richness and precision—very much in the style of a serious, modern Chardonnay.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Chardonnay shows a generous, polished style with a bright golden hue. The nose opens with white pear, lemon meringue, orange blossom, toasted almonds, honey, and a subtle crushed-stone note that reflects the vineyard’s rocky soils. On the palate, it is layered and expressive, offering glazed pear, stone fruit, hazelnut, nectarine, honey, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging. The texture is full and expansive, yet the wine finishes with impressive length and a cool mineral edge marked by flint. With its concentration and structure, it should continue to age well for several years.

Viininvalmistus
Stone Côte Vineyard is part of the esteemed Durrell Vineyard in Sonoma Coast AVA, where very rocky subsoil forces the vines’ roots deep in search of water. This naturally limits yields, producing smaller clusters with heightened concentration and flavor intensity. For this wine, winemaker Jeff Stewart aged the juice for 17 months in French oak barrels, with 30% new oak, adding depth, texture, and subtle spice while preserving the vineyard’s distinctive mineral character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for rich seafood and poultry dishes such as lobster, roasted chicken, creamy pasta, seared scallops, or grilled salmon. It also pairs beautifully with dishes that have a nutty or buttery element, as well as soft cheeses. Serve at 10–12°C for the best balance of freshness and texture. Decanting is not essential, but a short period in the glass will help the aromatics fully open.
