Henri Clerc Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2021 is a deeply expressive Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most celebrated villages, combining the power and structure Gevrey-Chambertin is known for with the finesse of old-vine fruit. Sourced from several well-regarded parcels and crafted by winemaker Eric Germain, it offers a concentrated, terroir-driven take on a classic village wine from a commune home to eight Grand Cru sites and many prized Premier Cru vineyards.

In the glass, this 2021 shows the dark, refined character often associated with Gevrey-Chambertin, with a profile that suggests ruby depth and vitality. The nose opens with red cherries, redcurrants, and blackcurrants, layered with violet, liquorice, tar, and a subtle hint of menthol for added complexity. On the palate, the wine mirrors the aromatics with bright red and black fruit, then adds orange peel and a touch of earthy minerality. The old-vine concentration gives it depth and drive, while the oak ageing adds shape and polish without overwhelming the fruit. It should age gracefully over the coming years, gaining more savoury nuance and silky integration with time.

Viininvalmistus
This wine comes from Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy, where the vines benefit from a renowned terroir that combines limestone-rich soils, excellent drainage, and a long tradition of serious Pinot Noir production. The wine is made from fruit drawn from older vines rooted deeply in some of the appellation’s best sites, helping to build complexity and concentration. The grapes are fully de-stemmed before pressing to preserve pure fruit character and avoid harsh tannins, then vinified in stainless steel and matured for 14 months in French oak barrels, with one-third of the barrels new.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb match for roast duck, herb-crusted lamb, game birds, mushroom dishes, and beef tenderloin, as well as richer vegetarian plates featuring truffle, wild mushrooms, or lentils. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, especially in its youth, to let the aromas open fully and soften the structure.
