Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2015 Magnum is a superb expression of one of Morey-Saint-Denis’ most prized climats, offering the depth, precision, and longevity collectors look for in top-tier Burgundy. Crafted from old-vine Pinot Noir and made in a traditional style, it combines concentrated fruit with striking minerality and a refined, ageworthy structure. In a generous magnum format, this Grand Cru is especially well suited to long cellar development and special occasions.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, vibrant ruby hue, hinting at both concentration and elegance. The nose is highly refined, with layers of ripe red berries, violet, orange blossom, and a cool limestone-driven mineral note that gives the bouquet lift and definition.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied but impressively intense, with crisp acidity and a linear, focused profile that carries the flavors in a long, saline finish. The whole-bunch component adds subtle aromatic complexity, while the new oak is well integrated and supports rather than dominates. This is a Clos de la Roche with excellent balance and a long future ahead—capable of rewarding at least 20–25 years of cellaring, and likely beyond in magnum.
Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from two small parcels in Clos de la Roche—0.65 hectares in Montluisants and 0.25 hectares in Les Fremières—sites known for their limestone-rich soils and ability to produce structured, mineral Pinot Noir with real depth. The domaine practices a traditional, hands-on approach in the vineyard, avoiding pesticides and herbicides to preserve a healthy, expressive terroir. In the cellar, the wine matured entirely in new oak, with around 25% whole bunch fruit included during vinification to add aromatic complexity and firmness to the structure.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Grand Cru pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, venison, braised beef, or mushroom-based plates like wild mushroom risotto and truffled poultry. It also works well with hard, aged cheeses such as Comté or Langres. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open and show its aromatic detail.

Hubert Lignier is a fifth-generation family domaine founded in 1880, when Jacques Lignier purchased vines in Morey-Saint-Denis in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Today, the estate is run by Hubert and Laurent Lignier, who oversee around nine hectares and produce a broad range of wines across Bourgogne, village, premier cru, and grand cru levels. Renowned for wines of depth, structure, and impressive ageing potential, the domaine is especially respected in Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, and its continued commitment to traditional winemaking has earned it a strong reputation among Burgundy lovers.
