Hubert Lignier’s Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 1er Cru 2014 is a refined Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir that combines Gevrey’s depth and structure with the elegance of this prized premier cru site. Sourced from vines planted in 1955, it offers a vivid expression of Burgundy terroir, with serious concentration, mineral drive, and impressive length. It is a wine that reflects both the historic character of Gevrey-Chambertin and the domaine’s traditional, highly regarded style.

Makuprofiili
The wine shows a beautifully ripe and expressive profile, with aromas of wild strawberry and raspberry layered over a musky mineral note and a lifted floral perfume. On the palate, it is silky at first, then becomes richer and more chiselled through the mid-palate, revealing intense purple fruit, violet accents, and a firm mineral backbone. Its texture is classy and subtle, with tannins that melt smoothly into the fruit while supporting a very long finish. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, and it should continue to gain nuance, savoury depth, and harmony over the coming years.

Aux Combottes is a finely situated premier cru site in Gevrey-Chambertin, where the soils and exposure contribute to the wine’s combination of power, perfume, and precision. Hubert Lignier works with a traditional Burgundian approach, focused on preserving site expression and fruit quality. The domaine avoids pesticides and herbicides, encouraging a healthy vineyard environment and relying on carefully selected fruit to craft wines with depth and balance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs well with duck breast, roast quail, mushroom dishes, veal, and refined game such as pigeon or venison. It also works beautifully with truffled dishes and aged cheeses that can match its structure and aromatic complexity. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–60 minutes if drinking young to help the aromatics unfold.

Hubert Lignier is a family domaine with roots dating back to 1880, when Jacques Lignier acquired vines in Morey-St-Denis in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Today, the estate is managed by Hubert Lignier and his son Laurent, who oversee around nine hectares and produce a wide range of wines from Bourgogne to village, premier cru, and grand cru appellations. Known for traditional winemaking, concentration, and aging potential, the domaine has earned a strong reputation in Burgundy for wines of finesse, depth, and character.
