Hubert Lignier’s Morey-Saint-Denis Les Chaffots 1er Cru 2015 is a finely structured Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most respected family domaines. Drawn from a prized Premier Cru site in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, it combines the village’s signature depth and savoury nuance with the precision and concentration that mark the great 2015 vintage.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine shows a vivid ruby-red colour typical of youthful Pinot Noir from Burgundy. The nose is initially a little restrained, but with time in the glass it opens to layered aromas of spiced red berries, subtle floral tones and a faint earthy, mineral complexity. On the palate, it is elegant and well balanced, with sappy red fruit, fine acidity and impressive detail through the finish. There is a sense of energy and precision rather than overt power, and the wine should continue to gain harmony with a few more years in bottle. Its structure suggests very good ageing potential over the medium to long term.

Les Chaffots is a Premier Cru site in Morey-Saint-Denis, where the domaine’s vineyards benefit from the limestone-rich soils and cool climate of the Côte de Nuits. Hubert Lignier farms with a strong respect for the land, avoiding pesticides and herbicides in order to preserve vineyard health and fruit purity. Harvesting is carried out with a focus on selecting ripe, healthy grapes, followed by traditional vinification aimed at bringing out the depth, structure and site-specific character of the wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with dishes that reflect its finesse and subtle power, such as roast duck, pigeon, game birds, mushroom risotto, or pork tenderloin with herbs. It is best served slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and will benefit from decanting if opened young to help the aromas unfold more fully.

Hubert Lignier is a historic family domaine founded in 1880, when Jacques Lignier acquired vineyards in Morey-Saint-Denis. Now run by Hubert Lignier and his son Laurent, the estate manages around nine hectares and produces wines across village, premier cru and grand cru levels in Burgundy. The domaine is widely respected for its traditional winemaking style, concentration and ageing potential, and for expressing the distinct personality of sites such as Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin.
