Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a polished, age-worthy Napa Valley red that showcases the richness and structure Rutherford is famous for. Made from carefully selected estate grapes and crafted with a gentle hand in the cellar, it combines deep black fruit, refined tannins, and the kind of balance that has made Inglenook a benchmark for classic California Cabernet. It also carries the weight of history, linking back to one of Napa Valley’s most storied estates and the legendary 1941 vintage.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a medium-deep garnet-purple color with impressive depth. The nose opens with cassis, blackberries, redcurrants, and cherry, layered with tobacco leaf, pencil shavings, spice, and a subtle earthy undertone. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied with juicy black and blue fruit at the core, supported by firm, polished tannins and a savory, lingering finish. The oak adds extra dimension without overpowering the fruit, giving the wine both elegance and power. This is a Cabernet with excellent aging potential and should continue to evolve beautifully over the next 15 to 20 years or more.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Inglenook’s own vineyards in Rutherford, one of the most prized parts of Napa Valley, where warm days and cooling influences help produce Cabernet with concentration, structure, and freshness. The fruit is hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure only the best lots make it into the final blend. Vinification is intentionally gentle to preserve finesse and aromatic purity, followed by 18 months of aging in a combination of French and American oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, lamb chops, braised short ribs, roast duck, or rich mushroom dishes. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and hearty winter fare. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, to allow the wine to fully open and soften.

Inglenook is one of Napa Valley’s great historic estates, founded in 1879 by Finnish sea captain and wine visionary Gustave Niebaum, who set out to create a winery capable of standing alongside Europe’s finest. The estate later gained legendary status under John Daniel Jr., whose 1941 Cabernet became one of California’s most celebrated wines. Today, Inglenook is owned by Francis Ford Coppola and remains a highly respected name in Napa, known for its commitment to organic farming, estate-grown wines, and world-class Cabernet Sauvignon.
