Inglenook Rubicon 2014 is one of Napa Valley’s most distinguished estate reds, crafted from the best parcels on the historic Rutherford property. First released in 1978, Rubicon marked the rebirth of Inglenook as a benchmark producer of serious, age-worthy wines, and today it continues to express the estate’s elegance, precision, and depth. This vintage comes from a legendary winery founded in 1879 by Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain with a vision to rival Europe’s great estates.

In the glass, Rubicon 2014 shows a deep, concentrated ruby color with the kind of youthful intensity that promises development over time. The nose is layered and refined, offering dark berry fruit, blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco leaf, graphite, and subtle floral notes, with well-integrated oak adding polish rather than weight. On the palate, it is structured and elegant, with a core of ripe black fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a long, persistent finish. Despite its power, the wine feels balanced and aromatic, with the kind of complexity that rewards patience. This is a wine built for aging and should continue to evolve beautifully for many years in bottle.

Rubicon is made from carefully selected fruit from Inglenook’s finest estate parcels in Rutherford, a terroir known for its gravelly soils, warm days, and cool evening influences that help preserve freshness and aromatic detail. Only the most exceptional grapes are chosen for this cuvée, allowing the wine to reflect both the character of the vineyard and the personality of the vintage. The vinification is focused on precision and quality, with careful handling to preserve concentration, structure, and elegance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve Rubicon 2014 with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, braised short ribs, or game dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. A serving temperature of 16–18°C is ideal to bring out the wine’s aromatic complexity and texture. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially if the wine is opened young, to allow the bouquet to open and the tannins to soften.
