Jacquesson Avize Champ Cain Brut Récolte 2009 Magnum is a striking Blanc de Blancs from one of Champagne’s most respected growers, showing the precision and depth that have made Jacquesson a benchmark for Chardonnay-based wines. Sourced from the prized Avize parcel of Champ Cain, it combines old-vine concentration, a dry style, and the added presence of magnum format for extra ageing grace and finesse. The 2009 vintage has reached a beautiful stage of maturity, offering both richness and a distinctly mineral Champagne identity.

In the glass, this Champagne shows a bright, elegant golden hue with a lively, refined mousse. The nose opens with orchard fruit, exotic fruit, and a subtle layer of toast, gradually revealing more complex chalky and mineral nuances with air. On the palate it is crisp and bone-dry, with flavours of pear, roasted almonds, and a broad, textured mid-palate that gives the wine impressive weight and presence. The finish is long, clean, and distinctly mineral, leaving a fresh and precise impression. Thanks to the ripeness of the 2009 vintage and its low dosage, it is drinking beautifully now, though the magnum format should allow it to hold and evolve gracefully over time.

Viininvalmistus
Champagne Jacquesson’s Champ Cain parcel in Avize lies at the base of a south-facing slope, planted on a terroir of clay, sand, and silt over chalk. The 1.3-hectare vineyard is planted with around 12,000 Chardonnay vines dating back to 1962, and the old vines are cultivated using organic methods. The 2009 season was warm and dry in Champagne, producing fully ripe grapes with lower acidity and higher alcohol, ideal for a structured, ready-to-drink style; the base wine was bottled in May 2010 and disgorged in May 2019, with a dosage of just 1.5 g/L.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Blanc de Blancs is an excellent match for oysters, sea bass, scallops, langoustines, sushi, or poultry dishes with delicate cream sauces. Its dry, mineral profile also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses or lightly salted snacks. Serve chilled at around 8-10°C, and while decanting is not necessary, a short period in the glass will help the wine раскры its layered aromatics and texture.
