Kapcsándy Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Vin 2010 is a striking California Cabernet built in a refined Bordeaux style, combining power, elegance, and remarkable depth. Sourced from 15 specific vineyard blocks and guided by winemaker Dennis Malbec, this is a wine that stands out for its balance, pedigree, and class rather than sheer fruit weight. The estate’s inspiration reaches back to a pivotal Bordeaux visit in 1998, which helped shape the vision behind these highly sought-after cuvées.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the 2010 Grand Vin shows a deep, dark color that hints at its concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, with black cherry, plum, smoke, licorice, menthol, tobacco, and new leather unfolding over time. The palate is powerful yet polished, with ripe dark fruit framed by a sense of restraint and precision. There is a seamless combination of intensity and finesse, building in layers toward a long, satisfying finish. Galloni described it as stunning and breathtaking, and while it is already impressive now, it also has the structure to age gracefully for several more years.

Viininvalmistus
Kapcsándy’s vineyards are divided into 15 distinct blocks, with Cabernet Sauvignon as the leading grape variety and Merlot also playing an important role. The estate was founded in California after the Kapcsándys identified the ideal site in 2000, with the goal of crafting wines in a classic Bordeaux-inspired style. Production focuses on achieving balance and complexity rather than overt ripeness, and the winemaking is overseen by Dennis Malbec, whose background includes time as winemaker at Château Latour.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or rich mushroom dishes. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and other savory, umami-driven plates. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young or if you want the aromatics and structure to fully open up.

Kapcsándy Winery began in 1998, when Lou Kapcsándy and his wife visited Bordeaux and were inspired by the philosophy and quality of the great estates there. That experience led them to search for the right California site, which they found in 2000, setting the project in motion. Today, the estate is known for its Bordeaux-style cuvées, meticulous block-by-block farming, and its strong reputation for crafting balanced, age-worthy wines in California.
