Kongsgaard Kings Farm Red Blend 2020 is a rare and highly sought-after California red, produced only in select vintages and typically reserved for John Kongsgaard’s mailing-list customers. Often described as the younger sibling to his iconic wines, it still delivers remarkable depth, precision, and power. With its blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Syrah, this is a richly layered red with the kind of pedigree that has repeatedly impressed the world’s leading wine critics.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it pours a near-black, deeply saturated color that immediately signals concentration. The nose rises with striking intensity, offering blackberry, blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedar, smoke, chocolate, espresso, earthy undertones, and a subtle hint of menthol. The palate is bold and commanding, yet beautifully polished, with a velvety texture that lives up to the “iron fist in a velvet glove” description. Dark fruit leads the way, followed by smoky, cedary, and cocoa-driven notes that echo the aromatics. This is a wine with significant structure and balance, suggesting excellent aging potential over the coming years.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an ideal match for richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, lamb with rosemary, venison, or roast duck with a dark sauce. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses or mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the wine to fully open and show its depth.
