Krug Clos du Mesnil 2000 Magnum is one of Champagne's rarest and most captivating single-vineyard expressions, crafted entirely from Chardonnay grown in a single 1.84-hectare parcel in the heart of Mesnil-sur-Oger. First conceived in 1979, it broke with Champagne tradition by celebrating the purity of one site and one vintage, resulting in a wine of exceptional precision, depth, and character.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep golden hue that already hints at its maturity and richness. The bouquet is intensely expressive, with aromas of toffee apple, caramel, ripe citrus, and lightly toasted nuts, lifted by a gentle note of warm wheat. On the palate, the wine opens with remarkable generosity and breadth, unfolding layers of brown sugar, candied ginger, and pecan before bright citrus flavors bring freshness and energy. The finish is long, elegant, and beautifully balanced, with the structure and concentration to age gracefully for many more years.

Viininvalmistus
Clos du Mesnil comes from a tiny, historic vineyard in Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most iconic Chardonnay villages in Champagne, where the chalk-rich terroir gives the wine its finesse and tension. The grapes are harvested from this single parcel in a single vintage, allowing the site’s character to shine through with remarkable clarity. As with Krug’s most prestigious wines, vinification is carried out with great precision to preserve purity, complexity, and the vineyard’s distinct identity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an exceptional Champagne best served with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, turbot, or truffle-infused poultry, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled at around 10-12°C, and consider a brief decant only if the wine is showing particularly closed on opening, though it is often best enjoyed directly from the bottle to preserve its fine mousse and aromatic detail.
