Makuprofiili
In the glass, Krug Grande Cuvée shows a beautiful pale golden hue with fine, lively bubbles that immediately signal refinement. The nose is generous and layered, opening with floral notes, ripe dried citrus, marzipan, and gingerbread, followed by more evolved hints of honey and toasted richness. On the palate, it is expansive yet precise, with flavors of hazelnut, nougat, citrus jelly, almonds, brioche, and honey woven together with a fresh, vibrant finish.
Despite its richness, the wine remains beautifully balanced, with a creamy mouthfeel lifted by tension and freshness. Thanks to its structure and complexity, it has excellent aging potential and can continue to develop further nuance over time, especially in magnum format.
Viininvalmistus
Krug Grande Cuvée is built from a meticulous blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier sourced from multiple years, allowing the house to craft a Champagne of exceptional complexity regardless of vintage variation. The wines are aged for around seven years in Krug’s cellars, a lengthy maturation that helps shape its signature elegance, depth, and fine mousse. As with all Krug production, the focus is on balance, precision, and the art of blending rather than any single vineyard or harvest.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an outstanding Champagne for refined dishes such as oysters, scallops, lobster, roast chicken, veal, truffle dishes, or aged hard cheeses like Comté and Parmesan. It also pairs beautifully with gourmet canapés and lightly spiced dishes that complement its layered profile. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and while decanting is not necessary, allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass will help its aromatics open gracefully.
