Marchesi di Gresy Langhe Martinenga Nebbiolo 2022

Marchesi di Grésy Langhe Martinenga Nebbiolo 2022 is a beautifully pure, fruit-forward expression of Nebbiolo from one of Barbaresco’s most celebrated sites. Sourced from younger vines in the Martinenga vineyard, it offers a more immediate, juicy style while still carrying the elegance, structure, and pedigree that make Martinenga so highly regarded.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a medium-intensity ruby red color that hints at its graceful style. The nose is impressively aromatic, with layered notes of raspberry, plum, black cherry, and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is fresh, lively, and focused on clean fruit, lifted by bright acidity that keeps everything finely balanced. It is elegant rather than powerful, yet still has enough depth to reflect its Barbaresco origins. Thanks to its structure and balance, it should age well over the medium term, gradually developing more savory and earthy complexity.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the Martinenga cru in Barbaresco, one of the Langhe’s finest monopole vineyards, planted with Nebbiolo sub-clones including Lampia, Rosé, and Michet. The site benefits from a south-facing exposure, blue marl soils, and elevations between 220 and 280 meters, all of which help Nebbiolo achieve full ripeness even in more challenging vintages. Following a brief maceration of 5 to 7 days, the wine is matured in cement to preserve its fresh fruit character and natural elegance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile Nebbiolo that works especially well with mushroom risotto, roast poultry, veal, porcini dishes, and classic Piedmontese cuisine such as tajarin with ragù or vitello tonnato. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and consider a short decant if opening young, as a little air will help reveal its floral and fruit-driven aromatics.

Marchesi di Grésy has been owned by the di Grésy family since 1797 and is one of Piemonte’s most respected estates. The family began bottling their own wines in the early 1970s under Alberto di Grésy, who recognized the potential of their vineyards and set out to express their terroir with both modern precision and respect for tradition. Today, the estate remains known for its estate-grown wines from Martinenga, Monte Aribaldo, La Serra, and Monte Colombo, with Martinenga standing out as one of the region’s most iconic Barbaresco vineyards.
