Mas Martinet Éls Escurcons' 2007

Mas Martinet Els Escurcons 2007 is a beautifully aged Priorat red that showcases why this corner of Spain is so highly regarded among wine lovers. Made from Grenache, it combines concentrated fruit, layered complexity, and the distinctive mineral edge of Priorat’s steep, rocky vineyards.

In the glass, this wine shows a deep, mature ruby core with developing garnet tones at the rim. The nose is expressive and nuanced, opening with black cherry and blackcurrant before unfolding into spice, tobacco, and a clear mineral note that speaks of its origin. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with ripe dark fruit, polished tannins, and a lively yet elegant acidity that keeps everything in balance. Subtle oak influence adds hints of toast and warm spice, while the finish is long, savoury, and persistent. With its current level of maturity, it is drinking well now, though it can still hold beautifully for further short-term cellaring.

Els Escurcons comes from Priorat, where old vines are rooted in the region’s poor, rocky soils and dramatic hillside terrain, helping to produce wines of intensity and character. The grapes are harvested with care to preserve freshness and concentration, then vinified in a way that emphasizes structure, complexity, and the expression of terroir. Aging in oak barrels adds depth and a refined layer of spice without overshadowing the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs wonderfully with rich, flavourful dishes such as slow-roasted lamb, beef stew, grilled game, or mushroom-based dishes with earthy depth. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if the bottle is recently opened, as this can help the wine open up and show its full aromatic complexity.
