Ojai Vineyard Ojai Red

Ojai Vineyard Ojai Red is a charming, unpretentious blend that showcases the winery’s signature ability to balance freshness, complexity, and sheer drinkability. Made from grapes sourced across Santa Barbara County, it reflects the cool-climate influence of California’s Central Coast, where slow ripening helps preserve vibrant aromatics and natural energy. Stylistically, it brings together California fruit with a distinctly European sensibility.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Ojai Red shows a clear ruby color. The nose is inviting and expressive, with sun-ripened strawberries, cherry, black pepper, and dried herbs leading the way. On the palate, the wine is juicy, lively, and lightly spiced, with plenty of berry-driven depth and a subtle mineral lift. The tannins are soft and discreet, making it immediately approachable, while the wine still carries enough structure and finesse to age gracefully for a few years. It is a red blend designed for pleasure now, with the kind of balance that gives it added versatility at the table.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from several parcels in Santa Barbara County, where the cool climate and proximity to the Pacific Ocean create ideal conditions for slow, even ripening and aromatic freshness. The blend typically centers on Syrah, Grenache, and a smaller portion of Mourvèdre, with fruit harvested at moderate ripeness to preserve juiciness and vitality. Fermentation takes place with natural yeast, and the wine is then matured in used oak barrels for up to 10 months, adding gentle texture and spice without overshadowing the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile red that works beautifully with grilled lamb, roast chicken, duck, charcuterie, ratatouille, or mushroom-based dishes. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, to best highlight its freshness and aromatic lift. Decanting is optional, but a short aeration can help open up the wine’s spice and herbal notes.
