Pahlmeyer Merlot 2021

Pahlmeyer Merlot 2021 is a richly layered California red that shows just how expressive Merlot can be when grown and crafted with precision. Sourced from Pahlmeyer Estate fruit and supported by small amounts of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, it delivers depth, structure, and polish with a distinctly Napa Valley sense of luxury.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is an inky, deeply colored wine that immediately signals concentration. The nose opens with boysenberry, violet, and vanilla, unfolding into darker tones of spice and oak as it breathes. The palate is generous and mouth-filling, with flavors of ripe red cherry, raspberry, chocolate, mocha, and espresso, followed by a subtle herbal lift from the Petit Verdot. Despite its richness, the wine retains enough freshness and structure to age beautifully over the coming years, gaining even more complexity with time in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the Pahlmeyer Estate vineyards in California, where the warm climate and carefully managed sites allow Merlot to ripen fully while preserving balance and character. The blend is made up of 93% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the wine is aged for 20 months in oak barrels, including 85% new French oak, which adds texture, spice, and finesse.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Merlot pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled ribeye, duck breast, braised short ribs, or mushroom-based dishes that match its depth and savory complexity. Serve at 16–18°C and decant for around 1 hour to allow the aromatics and layered fruit to fully open.
