Arnot-Roberts Peter Martin Ray Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023 is a distinctive Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir that captures both place and pedigree. Sourced from the historic Peter Martin Ray Vineyard at 420 meters above sea level, it stands out for its low-yield, schist-rich soils and the depth, concentration, and tension they bring to the wine.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its intensity. The nose opens with black cherry, raspberry, forest floor, and dried herbs, creating an aromatic profile that feels both expressive and restrained. On the palate, it is powerful yet finely structured, with layers of dark berries, spice, and a subtle mineral edge. Fresh acidity and polished tannins give the wine energy and balance, while its concentration suggests excellent aging potential of up to 10 years, though it can certainly be enjoyed now for its vivid fruit and texture.

The Peter Martin Ray Vineyard sits in the Santa Cruz Mountains on nutrient-poor schist soils, at an elevation that helps preserve freshness and complexity in the fruit. These challenging conditions naturally limit yields, resulting in small berries with impressive concentration. The vineyard is still tended by Peter Martin Ray himself, and Arnot-Roberts works with a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar to preserve the wine’s authentic, terroir-driven character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck, mushroom risotto, herb-crusted lamb, grilled salmon, or earthy dishes featuring truffles and wild mushrooms. Serve at around 16–18°C, and if possible, decant for 30–45 minutes to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
