Peter Michael Au Paradis Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a polished and powerful Napa Valley red from one of California’s most admired estates. Sourced from the prized Au Paradis vineyard in the heart of Oakville AVA, it combines deep Cabernet character with remarkable finesse, thanks to a blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and rounded out with Cabernet Franc. The vineyard’s name may mean “in paradise,” and this wine makes a very convincing case for it.

In the glass, this Cabernet shows a dark, concentrated core and the kind of depth you expect from a top Oakville site. The nose is layered and expressive, with blackcurrant, blackberry, lavender, tobacco leaf, pencil shavings, pine needle, and sage unfolding over time. The palate is rich and supple, opening with dark cherry, mocha, cinnamon, leather, smoke, and a touch of vanilla from its time in French oak. It has impressive structure and balance, with the concentration and freshness to age gracefully for many years. While already highly enjoyable, it will reward cellaring and should continue to develop beautifully over the next 15 to 20 years.

Au Paradis sits in the heart of Oakville AVA, one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated terroirs, where the combination of climate, soil, and exposure is especially well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine follows the estate’s rule of at least 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cabernet Franc completing the blend. It was matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, adding texture, spice, and complexity to the finished wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a Cabernet Sauvignon that calls for equally bold dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb rack, braised short ribs, or roast venison. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses and rich mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
