Peter Michael Belle Côte Chardonnay 2022 is a refined estate-grown white wine from Knights Valley in Sonoma County, made entirely from Chardonnay grown on the producer’s own Belle Côte vineyard. Sourced from east-facing slopes high on the mountainside of Mount St. Helena, it combines elegance, depth, and freshness in a style that reflects both the vineyard’s dramatic location and Peter Michael’s reputation for world-class California Chardonnay.

In the glass, the wine shows a bright, polished appearance that hints at its freshness and precision. The nose opens with citrus and white peach, layered with subtle toasted nuts and a touch of elegant oak spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and creamy in texture, yet held together by vibrant acidity and a clear mineral backbone. Notes of ripe stone fruit, citrus zest, and roasted hazelnut lead into a long, balanced finish with well-integrated oak. While it can be enjoyed in its youth, the wine also has the structure to develop beautifully over time.

Viininvalmistus
The Belle Côte vineyard sits on steep hillsides in Knights Valley, where its high elevation and east-facing exposure allow for slow, even ripening and strong natural freshness. The 2022 growing season was relatively cool, helping preserve acidity and aromatic purity in the grapes. Fruit was harvested by hand and carefully sorted before vinification. Fermentation took place in French oak barrels, including a portion of new oak, followed by lees aging to build texture, depth, and complexity.

This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with lobster, roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes, butter-poached fish, and rich vegetable preparations such as wild mushroom risotto or truffle pasta. Serve chilled, ideally at 10–12°C, and consider a brief decant if enjoying the wine young to help open its aromatic layers.
