Peter Michael La Carrière Chardonnay 2019

Peter Michael La Carrière Chardonnay 2019 is a striking single-vineyard Chardonnay from one of the winery’s most celebrated sites, perched on a steep slope at around 500 meters above sea level. The rocky, well-drained soils and cool Californian climate give winemaker Nicolas Morlet the raw material for a wine of remarkable depth, precision, and mineral drive. Named after the quarry-like character of the vineyard, La Carrière has become a benchmark for powerful yet elegant Napa and Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a concentrated, poised Chardonnay with impressive richness and freshness in equal measure. The aroma is especially expressive, opening with mandarin, dried apricot, and warm pineapple layered over brioche, acacia honey, hazelnuts, and a lift of grapefruit. On the palate, it shows Williams pear, citrus, white flowers, almonds, vanilla, and a clear mineral edge from the stony hillside soils. The texture is full and generous, yet always refined and composed, with the kind of structure that makes the wine approachable now while promising at least another 10 years of graceful aging.

Viininvalmistus
La Carrière comes from Peter Michael’s own vineyard site, planted on a dramatically steep, high-altitude slope with extremely rocky soils that provide excellent drainage and naturally limit vigor. The vineyard benefits from ideal Californian growing conditions and is harvested with a focus on quality and precision. The wine is then vinified and aged for 12 months on the lees, contributing to its layered texture, complexity, and creamy depth.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay is a superb match for lobster, roasted poultry, seared scallops, creamy risotto, or rich dishes with mushrooms and buttered sauces. Serve it chilled at around 10–12°C to let its aromatics and texture fully unfold. Decanting is not essential, but giving it a little air can help reveal its depth if opened young.
