Peter Michael L’Après-Midi Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Peter Michael L’Après-Midi Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a beautifully composed California white inspired by the great wines of Bordeaux, blending 90% Sauvignon Blanc with 10% Sémillon. Crafted from Peter Michael’s Les Pavots vineyard and made for the pleasure of the afternoon table, it offers a vibrant mix of freshness, texture, and aromatic complexity in a style that feels both precise and generous.

Makuprofiili
Pale straw in the glass, this wine opens with a lifted, expressive nose of white pear, elderflower, sea buckthorn, lemon, lime, acacia honey, and a delicate hint of anise. The bouquet is bright and layered, with a purity that immediately signals both freshness and seriousness. On the palate, it follows through with a lively, multi-dimensional profile of mirabelle plum, fresh almonds, guava, citrus, and floral notes, all carried by a sleek mineral thread and a fine sense of richness from the Sémillon. It feels youthful and energetic now, but has the structure and depth to develop further over the next year or so.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Peter Michael’s own Les Pavots vineyard in California, a site evidently capable of producing Sauvignon Blanc with both aromatic lift and real depth. Harvested by hand, the whole clusters are gently pressed before fermentation in barrel, followed by nine months on the lees, a process that adds texture, complexity, and a refined creamy edge while preserving the wine’s vivid freshness.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve this wine with shellfish, grilled fish, asparagus, goat’s cheese, or dishes with citrus and herb accents, as well as lightly spiced poultry or refined vegetarian plates. It is best enjoyed well chilled at around 8–10°C, and while decanting is not necessary, a little time in the glass can help the aromatics fully unfold.
