Peter Michael Les Pavots Bordeaux Red Blend 2020 is a striking Napa Valley expression built in a classic Bordeaux style, but with the depth and polish that have made Peter Michael one of California’s most respected names. Sourced from the estate vineyard Les Pavots in Knights Valley and crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, it combines power, finesse, and a distinctly luxurious texture. The wine has often drawn comparisons to fine Margaux for its velvety feel and aromatic complexity.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a deep, насыщенный-looking red wine with excellent concentration and intensity. The nose opens with dark cherry, blackberry, blueberry coulis, morels, fresh leather, and a touch of vanilla, showing both fruit purity and savory sophistication. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, with layered flavors of dark berries, dark chocolate, and sweet tobacco wrapped in a rich, mouth-coating structure. The finish is long and expressive, with enough structure to reward patience. According to Nicolas Morlet, the wine will benefit from another 2–3 years of cellaring, and it should continue to evolve beautifully over the next several decades.

Les Pavots comes from Peter Michael Winery’s estate vineyard in Knights Valley, where the site’s warm California climate and volcanic-influenced soils help produce grapes with ripeness, structure, and aromatic depth. The 2020 blend was aged for 18 months in 100% French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving the wine’s intensity, texture, and sense of place.

This is a wine for generous, flavorful dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb rack, braised short ribs, venison, or mushroom-rich preparations. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and truffle-accented cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the wine to open fully.
