Petrolo Galatrona 2015 is one of Tuscany’s most iconic Merlots, a wine that has earned comparisons to the great Pomerol estates and even been dubbed “The Pétrus of Tuscany.” With critical acclaim from some of the world’s most respected wine voices, including top scores from Luca Gardini and James Suckling, it stands as a benchmark for richness, depth, and finesse. Galatrona 2015 pours a deep, dark ruby-red in the glass, hinting at its concentration and intensity. The bouquet is layered and expressive, unfolding with ripe red berries, vanilla, and a subtle thread of licorice, all wrapped in polished oak and luxurious warmth. On the palate, this is a wine of remarkable scale and opulence, with a full, velvety mouthfeel, generous fruit, and fully ripe tannins that give structure without hardness. The finish is long and powerful, with enough freshness and balance to suggest excellent aging potential over many years.

Viininvalmistus
Petrolo works with a natural approach in the vineyard, avoiding both organic and inorganic fertilizers and encouraging spontaneous grass growth to support soil health, moisture retention, and balance in the vines. Galatrona is crafted from Merlot grown in Tuscany, where the site’s conditions help bring ripeness, depth, and aromatic complexity to the wine. The vinification is aimed at preserving concentration and elegance while allowing the fruit and structure to shine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with equally expressive dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised lamb, game, truffle risotto, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C for the best balance of aroma and texture. Decanting for at least 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to let the wine fully open and soften.

Petrolo has been a cult name in Tuscany since the mid-1990s, when Luca Sanjust recognized the estate’s full potential and steered it toward elite status. Once known for more traditional Chianti production, the winery has become renowned for its top wines, especially Galatrona and the Sangiovese-based Torrione. Today, Petrolo is widely respected as one of Tuscany’s finest producers, regularly earning outstanding reviews from leading international critics.
