Petrus 2009 (US black label)

Petrus 2009 is one of Bordeaux’s great cult wines: a pure Merlot from Pomerol that combines immense concentration with remarkable finesse. Produced in tiny quantities and coveted worldwide, it stands apart not only for its rarity and prestige, but also for its singular style and long-lived pedigree. Makuprofiili
In the glass, the 2009 Petrus shows a deep plum-purple colour that hints at its richness and depth. The nose is expressive and layered, with mulberries, black cherries, subtle toast, licorice and a delicate floral lift. On the palate, it is opulent and full-bodied, delivering stunning concentration, silky tannins and a multidimensional mouthfeel that feels both powerful and refined. The fruit is ripe and sweetly framed, with a velvety texture that makes the wine feel generous even now. This is a wine with extraordinary aging potential, built to evolve gracefully for decades and likely remain compelling well into mid-century.

Viininvalmistus
Petrus comes from Pomerol on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, where the estate’s distinctive terroir and old Merlot vines give the wine its trademark depth and plush texture. The vineyard’s small scale, meticulous human work and highly selective harvesting are central to its quality, with every detail focused on preserving purity and concentration. Fermentation and élevage are carried out with great precision to express the estate’s unique fruit profile, structure and natural opulence.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for equally luxurious dishes such as roasted duck, lamb saddle, beef tenderloin, truffle-rich preparations or game birds with a refined sauce. It also pairs beautifully with earthy mushroom dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if drinking relatively young, though very old bottles should be handled with care and decanted only briefly if needed.
