Pétrus 2015

Pétrus 2015 is one of the great cult wines of Bordeaux: a rare, pure Merlot from Pomerol that stands apart from the region’s more famous Left Bank estates. Revered for its extraordinary depth, precision, and velvety texture, it is a wine that sits on many collectors’ and enthusiasts’ bucket lists for good reason. With its tiny production, historic reputation, and immense critical acclaim, this is a bottle that defines exclusivity.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Pétrus 2015 shows a medium to deep garnet-purple colour, hinting at both concentration and finesse. The nose opens slowly and beautifully, revealing crushed black cherries, warm plums, mulberries, cedar, anise, lavender, and a subtle earthy edge of crushed stone. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, richly layered, and remarkably polished, with generous red, black, and floral fruit balanced by very fine, firm tannins and seamless acidity. The finish is long, mineral, and deeply persistent. While already impressive, this is a wine built for the long haul and should continue to evolve gracefully for decades, with the potential to cellar for 40 years or more.

Viininvalmistus
Pétrus comes from Pomerol on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, where the estate’s exceptional terroir plays a defining role in the wine’s character. The vineyard is planted almost entirely to Merlot, including very old vines, and the meticulous hands-on approach in the vineyard and cellar reflects the estate’s uncompromising standards. Harvesting is carried out with precision, and vinification is geared toward preserving purity, concentration, and texture, resulting in a wine of remarkable depth and harmony.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine to serve with equally refined dishes such as filet of beef, lamb, duck breast, truffle risotto, or game birds. It also works beautifully with slow-braised meats and dishes featuring earthy mushrooms or rich sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C and, given its stature and complexity, decanting for a few hours is recommended to allow the wine to fully open.

Château Pétrus is one of the most celebrated names in Bordeaux, despite having a relatively short rise to fame compared with some of the region’s historic First Growths. Its reputation was truly established in the 1950s under Jean-Pierre Moueix, whose stewardship helped transform the estate into a global icon, later continued by his son Christian Moueix. Today, Pétrus is synonymous with rarity, prestige, and exceptional quality, and it remains one of the most admired producers in the world.
