Planeta Merlot Sito dell’Ulmo 2021 is a beautifully expressive Sicilian red that shows how well Merlot can adapt to the island’s warm, sun-drenched terroir. From one of Sicily’s most respected producers, it combines ripe fruit, floral complexity, and polished tannins in a wine with both charm and serious length.

In the glass, it shows a deep, dense ruby-red color that hints at its concentration. The bouquet is generous and layered, with sweet blackcurrant fruit, candied violets, and a distinctly Mediterranean lift of thyme and lavender. On the palate, it is supple yet structured, with juicy dark fruit, velvety tannins, and a long, persistent finish. The balance between richness and freshness gives it excellent drinking appeal now, while its depth and graceful frame suggest good aging potential over the next few years.

Sito dell’Ulmo comes from Menfi DOC in Sicily, where the warm climate and local terroir help Merlot develop ripe fruit character while retaining aromatic precision. The grapes are carefully harvested to preserve freshness and expression, then vinified to highlight purity of fruit, balance, and texture. The result is a wine that reflects both the variety and the distinct personality of the Sicilian landscape.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Merlot pairs well with roast lamb, grilled beef, mushroom dishes, and rich pasta preparations, especially those with tomato, herbs, or aged cheese. Serve it slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromatics and texture to खुल fully.
