Realm Hartwell XX 2022

Realm Hartwell XX 2022 is a highly limited single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the upper reaches of Realm Cellars’ Wappo Hill estate in Stags Leap District, Napa Valley. Drawn from a tiny 2-acre parcel planted in 1986 with the Bosche clone, it captures the depth, structure, and precision that have made this site so compelling for serious collectors.

In the glass, Hartwell XX 2022 shows the dark, concentrated color you would expect from a top-tier Napa Cabernet. The nose opens with classic blackcurrant, red currant, and dried tobacco, then unfolds into more layered notes of iris, black olive, graphite, and exotic spice. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet composed, with tightly packed tannins, focused fruit, and a precise line of acidity that keeps everything lifted and energetic. The finish is long and structured, suggesting excellent aging potential over the next two decades, with cellaring recommended until at least 2027 for those who prefer more development.

The vineyard’s Bosche clone, originally planted in 1986, is prized for its intensity and deep structural profile. Production is extremely limited, reflecting both the tiny vineyard footprint and a focused approach to vinification designed to preserve site expression and varietal purity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Cabernet Sauvignon is an excellent match for dry-aged ribeye, grilled lamb, roasted short ribs, or dishes with rich mushroom and truffle elements. It also pairs beautifully with hard aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C and, if opening young, decant for 1–2 hours to allow the wine to fully open and soften its tannins.
