Realm Moonracer 2022

Realm Moonracer 2022 is a striking Bordeaux-inspired red from Realm’s own Wappo Hill parcel in Stag’s Leap District, a site with a strong sense of place and history. Crafted by Benoit Touquette, it blends Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot to create a wine that feels both opulent and finely tuned, with remarkable elegance beneath its power.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep purple color that hints at its concentration. The nose is generous and expressive, opening with kirsch, spring flowers, espresso, black licorice, and a touch of paprika. On the palate, Moonracer is full-bodied and expansive, with layered flavors of cherry, baked strawberries, orange blossom, cocoa nib, pencil lead, fresh leather, and tobacco. It has the structure and balance to age gracefully for up to 20 years, though it can also be enjoyed young with a bit of air.

Viininvalmistus
Moonracer comes from Realm’s Wappo Hill vineyard in the Stag’s Leap District, where different parcels are planted on soils with varying characteristics and sun exposure. The name pays tribute to the Wappo people and the hill’s historic role as a lookout point, later tied to the moonlit races that inspired the wine’s name. Winemaker Benoit Touquette blends 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with 6% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot to build depth, aromatic lift, and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb partner for grilled ribeye, slow-braised short ribs, roast lamb, venison, or truffle-infused dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and if opening now, decant for about an hour to let the wine fully unfold.
