Rippon Tinker’s Field Mature Vine Pinot Noir 2017 is a finely tuned expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir, drawn from some of Rippon’s oldest vines on the historic Tinker’s Field block. Named after founder Rolfe Mills, known as Tink, this biodynamically farmed vineyard offers both pedigree and place in every glass, with the added depth that only mature vines can bring.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a beautiful ruby-red colour that hints at both freshness and depth. The nose is intensely aromatic, opening with dark cherry, blueberry, redcurrant jelly, smoked bacon, violets, and a subtle charcoal note. The palate is layered and complex, with those same flavours unfolding across a deep, textural core. There is plenty of concentration and energy here, finishing long, savoury, and highly moreish. While it already offers plenty of pleasure, it will continue to develop gracefully over time and can be enjoyed now with a few hours of air.

Viininvalmistus
Tinker’s Field is one of the most important sites at Rippon, planted in the 1970s and home to the estate’s oldest vines. The vineyard is biodynamically farmed, reflecting a careful, low-intervention approach that respects the unique Central Otago terroir. Winemaker Nick Mills matured the wine for 17 months in French oak barrels, including 30% new oak, and bottled it without filtration to preserve purity and texture.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with duck, roast game birds, lamb, mushroom dishes, and richly flavoured salmon preparations. Serve slightly cool at around 14–16°C, and if opening it young, decant for a couple of hours to let the wine fully reveal its aromatic complexity and layered palate.

Rippon is one of Central Otago’s benchmark producers, with a strong reputation for biodynamic farming and site-driven wines from its lakeside vineyard in Wanaka. Founded by Rolfe Mills and now led in winemaking by his son Nick Mills, the estate has become a reference point for quality Pinot Noir in New Zealand and is widely respected for its commitment to authenticity, sustainability, and finesse.
