Rivers-Marie Joy Road Pinot Noir 2022 is a compelling first release from a site Thomas Rivers Brown knows intimately, having worked with its Chardonnay since 2013. Sourced from a coastal Sonoma vineyard with notably sandy soils, this Pinot Noir captures both precision and personality, offering a refined expression of site, careful block selection, and expert blending.

In the glass, it shows the bright, translucent appeal typical of fine Pinot Noir, setting the stage for a lifted and expressive nose. Aromas of red cherry, strawberry, white flowers, sandalwood, black pepper, and a touch of mint give it a layered and fragrant profile. The palate follows with red fruit at the core, joined by cranberry and a lively sense of freshness that keeps the wine elegant and precise. It already drinks beautifully, but the balance and structure suggest it will gain even more complexity with time in bottle.
