Rivers-Marie Occidental Ridge Pinot Noir 2021 is a strikingly expressive California Pinot Noir that delivers both concentration and finesse. Sourced from mature vines on Occidental Ridge Vineyard, it offers impressive fruit intensity, vibrant acidity, and a layered profile that already feels complete while promising even more with time in bottle.

In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows the kind of depth and energy you expect from a standout coastal site, with a vivid, polished character that hints at its ripe fruit core. The nose is exceptionally aromatic, opening with cherry liqueur, fresh raspberries, blood orange, cinnamon, mint, and a subtle earthy note. The palate is equally impressive, unfolding with dark cherries, plums, mint, liquorice, orange zest, and spice in a beautifully knit, almost symphonic way. There is real structure here, yet the wine remains vibrant and alluring. It is already highly enjoyable, but it should gain even greater complexity and harmony over the next few years.

Viininvalmistus
Occidental Ridge Vineyard is now over 20 years old, and those mature vines bring greater concentration, depth, and expression to the wine. To support structure without masking fruit or terroir, winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown includes around 10% whole clusters in fermentation and keeps new oak usage restrained at roughly 20%, allowing the vineyard site to remain front and center.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir is a natural match for roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, game birds, or earthy dishes with herbs and subtle spice. Serve it slightly cool, around 15-16°C, and consider a brief decant if opening young, though it will also open beautifully in the glass.
