Roger Sabon’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Le Secret des Sabon 2010 is a rare and highly sought-after expression of Grenache from one of the Rhône Valley’s most revered appellations. Made in extremely limited quantities, it stands out for its extraordinary concentration, depth, and complexity, offering a benchmark example of classic, long-lived Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

In the glass, the wine shows an inky, almost opaque purple color that hints at its intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, unfolding with blue, black, and red fruits, graphite, chocolate, charcoal, forest floor, spring flowers, and a subtle touch of garrigue. On the palate, it is exceptionally rich, dense, and powerful, with a luxurious, velvety texture that carries immense fruit concentration and a long, nearly endless finish. Firm tannins provide structure beneath the wine’s opulence, suggesting outstanding aging potential. While it can be enjoyed with patience, it is built to evolve beautifully over several decades.

Viininvalmistus
Crafted from Grenache grown in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this wine comes from the stony, sun-drenched terroir of the southern Rhône, where warm days, cooling influences, and the region’s signature galets roulés help produce ripe, concentrated fruit. The vintage details and exact cellar methods are not fully specified, but the wine is clearly made in a highly selective, limited-production style designed to capture maximum purity and depth from the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for richly flavored dishes such as roasted lamb, duck confit, beef short ribs, game, or slow-braised meats with herbs and black olives. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant well in advance—at least 2 to 4 hours, and longer if opening young—to allow the wine to fully open and soften.
