Sandrone Barolo Aleste 2020

Sandrone Barolo Aleste 2020 is a deeply expressive Nebbiolo from the heart of Barolo, grown on the famed Cannubi Boschis slope, one of the region’s most admired sites. Now known as Aleste since 2013, the wine carries both the pedigree of a historic vineyard and a personal family tribute, named for Luciano Sandrone’s grandchildren, Alessia and Stefano.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Aleste typically shows the classic garnet hue of fine Barolo, with bright ruby reflections that hint at youth and energy. The nose is layered and refined, combining red cherry, wild berry, rose petal, licorice, spice, and earthy mineral notes, with the kind of aromatic precision that marks great Cannubi fruit. On the palate, it is structured yet graceful, with firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, evolving finish shaped by Nebbiolo’s signature complexity. While already expressive, this is a wine built for time, and its best years are expected to unfold slowly in bottle over the coming decade and beyond.

Barolo Aleste comes from Cannubi Boschis, a prestigious part of the Cannubi hill in Barolo, where marly, moderately compact soils and a distinctive microclimate help bring out Nebbiolo’s elegance, depth, and longevity. Luciano Sandrone has cultivated and vinified this vineyard since 1985, treating it with a careful, site-driven approach that aims to preserve the character of the terroir and the finesse of the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Barolo pairs beautifully with rich Piedmontese dishes such as braised beef, veal shank, truffle risotto, and mushroom-based pasta, as well as game, roast lamb, and aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for a few hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and tannins to open fully.
