Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a standout expression of one of the world’s most underestimated white grape varieties, made by a producer that treats it with the same seriousness usually reserved for top Sauvignon Blanc from Graves or Sancerre. Crafted from the Musqué clone and sourced from carefully selected cool-climate vineyard parcels, it is designed for purity, depth, and precision rather than simple aromatic showiness. The result is a richly styled yet beautifully balanced Californian Sauvignon Blanc with real pedigree.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Sauvignon Blanc typically shows a bright, luminous appearance with a polished, pale golden tone. The nose is refined and expressive, with layered aromas that may suggest citrus blossom, lime zest, white peach, fresh herbs, and a subtle floral, almost perfumed character from the Musqué clone. On the palate, it is expected to be generous and textured, with ripe fruit, vibrant acidity, and impressive balance. Rather than being aggressive or grassy, the wine leans toward elegance, nuance, and complexity, with a long, cultured finish. Thanks to its structure and concentration, it should also have strong aging potential, gaining additional depth and harmony over time.

Spottswoode’s Sauvignon Blanc comes from cool, optimally situated vineyard sites in California chosen specifically for this grape variety, allowing the fruit to retain freshness and aromatic precision. The Musqué clone adds extra perfume and complexity, while the separate fermentation of individual parcels helps preserve the distinct character of each site. With up to 200 individual batches vinified separately, the winery can blend only the most expressive components into the final wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs well with seafood, shellfish, goat’s cheese, asparagus, light poultry dishes, and refined vegetable-driven cuisine. Serve chilled, ideally around 8-10°C, to highlight its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can help if served relatively young.
