Tan Fruit’s Cuvee Tan Fruit Chardonnay 2021 is a strikingly elegant Oregon Chardonnay that moves far away from the classic rich, buttery style. Winemaker Jim Maresh sources fruit from four of the region’s most respected sites—Dundee Hills, Eola-Amity Hills, Yamhill-Carlton, and Chehalem Mountains—bringing together lift, depth, and precision in one cuvée. The result is a wine that captures both the freshness and the serious mineral character that have made Oregon Chardonnay increasingly exciting.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Chardonnay shows a bright, refined presence rather than weight or opulence. The bouquet is highly expressive, with notes of peach, white flowers, fresh tart pastry, a subtle struck-match character, and a gentle hint of candle smoke. The palate offers impressive depth and texture while remaining light on its feet. Juicy fruit and vibrant mineral tension drive the wine, giving it both energy and complexity, with a clean, elegant finish. This is a Chardonnay that should drink beautifully now, while also having the structure to develop additional nuance over the next few years.

Viininvalmistus
This cuvée combines fruit from four distinct Oregon vineyard sites, with Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity Hills making up the largest portion of the blend. These terroirs contribute different layers of fruit, acidity, and mineral expression, creating a wine with both lift and substance. The wine is bottled a few months earlier than the other wines in the range, reflecting Tan Fruit’s flexible, low-intervention approach and Jim Maresh’s preference for letting the wine guide the process rather than strict convention.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
A versatile food wine, this Chardonnay works beautifully with roast chicken, seared scallops, lobster, creamy pasta dishes, and mushroom risotto. It also pairs well with dishes that include fresh herbs, lemon, or lightly buttery sauces. Serve chilled at around 10-12°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a little time in the glass will help the aromas open up.
