Tenuta di Arceno’s Arcanum Valadorna 2016 is a polished and expressive Tuscan Bordeaux blend that brings together ripe fruit, precision, and a distinctly cool-climate edge. Crafted from fruit grown in the estate’s higher, cooler vineyards and shaped by Pierre Seillan and Lawrence Cronin, it balances generosity with structure in a style that feels both modern and classically inspired.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, vibrant ruby color with plenty of concentration. The nose is layered and inviting, offering black cherry, dark plum, blueberry, dried fig, vanilla, licorice, and a subtle earthy, balsamic character, with a touch of milk chocolate and herbs adding complexity. The palate is lively and fruit-driven, with the dark berry flavors supported by a clear mineral backbone, fresh acidity, and firm yet velvety tannins. Despite its power, the wine keeps a graceful, linear profile, and while it is already drinking well, it has the structure to age beautifully over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
Valadorna is sourced from Tenuta di Arceno’s cooler, higher-elevation vineyards in Castelnuovo Berardenga, where varying soils and mountain-influenced breezes help preserve freshness and aromatic detail. The estate follows a low-intervention approach in the vineyard, and the grapes are fermented before the wine is matured for 12 months in French oak, with a high proportion of new barrels to build texture, spice, and depth.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is a superb match for grilled or roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, braised short ribs, game birds, or rich mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening it young, to allow the aromatics and structure to fully unfold.

Tuottaja
Tenuta di Arceno is located on the southern edge of Chianti Classico in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, and wine has been produced on the estate since the 16th century. Its name references the area’s Etruscan heritage and the idea of Arceno as a “place of origins,” a fitting tribute to this historic corner of Tuscany. Once owned by the Del Taja and Piccolomini families, the estate was acquired in 1994 by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke of The Jackson Family, whose global portfolio includes highly regarded names such as Anakota, Lokoya, and Vérité.
