Tuli Chardonnay 2021

Tuli Chardonnay 2021 is a fresh, inviting Californian Chardonnay that brings together the richness of ripe fruit with a more elegant, coastal-driven style. Sourced from vineyards along the Pacific coast in Sonoma Carneros, it reflects both the character of the region and the experience of winemaker Joe Wagner, whose name is closely linked with some of California’s most ambitious wine projects.

Makuprofiili
This Chardonnay shows a beautiful light golden color in the glass. The nose opens with aromas of pear, baked apple, pineapple, and a delicate hint of citrus. On the palate, it is supple and layered, with flavors of Fuji apple, pear, honeydew melon, oak, and a bright citrus finish that keeps the wine fresh and balanced. The texture is generous without feeling heavy, thanks to the mix of fruit from different vineyard sites that adds both depth and finesse. With its 12 months in French oak, including 50% new barrels, the wine has a polished structure and enough intensity to develop nicely over a few years, though it is already very enjoyable now.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from several vineyard sites in Sonoma Carneros, a cool-climate area influenced by the Pacific Ocean, where the maritime conditions help preserve freshness and aromatic lift. Fruit was harvested from different parcels with distinct characteristics, allowing the final blend to combine fuller, more expressive fruit with a more refined, elegant profile. The wine was pressed as whole clusters, and the juice was matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, half of which were new, adding complexity, texture, and subtle oak seasoning.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve this Chardonnay slightly chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, to bring out its fresh fruit and bright citrus notes. It pairs beautifully with roast chicken, creamy pasta, grilled lobster, seared scallops, and rich vegetable dishes, as well as soft cheeses. Decanting is not necessary, but letting it breathe briefly in the glass can help open up the oak and fruit aromas.

Tuli is one of winemaker Joe Wagner’s newer projects, but it already stands at an impressive level. Wagner is one of California’s most recognizable and entrepreneurial wine figures, known for building successful brands with a strong focus on ripe fruit, balance, and broad appeal. While Tuli is still relatively young, it already benefits from his experience and has quickly established itself as a noteworthy name in the region.
