Velenosi Rosso Piceno Superiore Solesta 2023 is a vibrant red from Marche that brings together the classic blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese with the freshness and energy expected from this historic appellation. Crafted by one of the region’s most recognized producers, it offers a modern, polished expression of Rosso Piceno Superiore while staying true to its Italian heritage.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine typically shows a deep ruby-red colour with youthful brightness. The nose leans toward ripe red cherry, plum and blackberry, framed by hints of spice, violet and a subtle earthy note that adds complexity. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and smooth, with juicy red and dark fruit, supple tannins and a lively line of acidity that keeps everything fresh. The Montepulciano brings depth and roundness, while the Sangiovese adds lift and structure. It is approachable now, but can also gain a little extra harmony over the next few years.

Rosso Piceno Superiore comes from the Marche region on Italy’s Adriatic side, where vineyards benefit from a balanced mix of coastal influence, hillside exposure and well-drained soils that help preserve freshness and flavour. The grapes are typically harvested by hand or with careful selection to ensure optimal ripeness, then vinified separately or in blend depending on the house style before maturation to refine the wine’s texture and aromatic profile.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for roasted chicken, grilled lamb, pasta with tomato-based sauces, mushroom risotto and aged semi-hard cheeses. Serve it slightly below room temperature, ideally around 16–18°C, and decanting for 20–30 minutes can help open up the wine’s fruit and spice.
