Veraton 2019

Veraton 2019 from Alto Moncayo is a bold, expressive Garnacha that captures the richness of Campo de Borja at its best. Crafted from old vines and shaped by the winemaking expertise of Chris Ringland, it delivers impressive depth, concentration, and a luxurious yet balanced style that has made the estate one of Spain’s most talked-about names in modern Garnacha.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Veraton 2019 shows a deep, dark ruby colour with inviting intensity. The nose is packed with ripe blackberries, forest fruits, and plum, followed by layers of liquorice, sweet spice, vanilla, and a subtle smoky oak note. On the palate it is full-bodied, generous, and plush, with ripe fruit, rich texture, and warming spice framed by a firm, structured backbone. The American oak adds a touch of sweetness and vanilla, while the French oak brings tension and balance, keeping the wine firmly grounded. This is a wine with excellent ageing potential, and it will continue to gain complexity over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
Veraton comes from Campo de Borja in northeastern Spain, a region known for its dry climate, warm days, and cool nights that allow Garnacha to ripen fully while retaining freshness. The vines are around 50 years old, giving the wine concentrated fruit and natural depth. A portion of the wine is matured in American oak, with the remainder aged in French oak, creating a blend of richness, structure, and a distinctly Mediterranean character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for grilled lamb, slow-roasted beef, braised short ribs, game, or hearty stews, and it also works well with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least an hour before drinking to allow the wine to open fully and show its best.
