Walter Hansel Chardonnay Estate 2023 is a refined Russian River Valley Chardonnay that captures the best of cool-climate California winemaking. Made from hand-harvested estate grapes and crafted with precision to preserve freshness, texture, and complexity, it offers a polished balance of ripe fruit, subtle oak, and elegant depth.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Chardonnay shows a bright, polished golden hue. The nose opens with green apple, citrus, and ripe peach, layered with hints of vanilla and toasted nuts from careful oak aging. On the palate, it is rich yet composed, with fresh acidity carrying flavors of orchard fruit, citrus, and a fine mineral edge. A creamy texture from malolactic fermentation adds roundness, while the finish is long, smooth, and gently marked by buttered and toasty notes. It has the structure to develop nicely over the next few years, though it already offers excellent balance and charm now.

Sourced from Walter Hansel’s own estate vineyards in Russian River Valley, the wine reflects a terroir shaped by cool maritime fog and moderate temperatures, ideal for Chardonnay. The grapes are hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed to preserve purity and freshness, then the juice is fermented in French oak barrels. During malolactic fermentation, the lees are regularly stirred to build a creamy texture and integrate fruit and oak seamlessly.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay is a natural match for fish, shellfish, chicken, and mushroom dishes with creamy sauces, where its acidity and texture can complement richer flavors. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses. Serve it slightly chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a brief rest in the glass can help the aromas open up.
