Wayfarer Chardonnay The Estate 2021

Wayfarer Chardonnay The Estate 2021 is a striking coastal Chardonnay that could easily be mistaken in a blind tasting for a top-tier Meursault. Hailing from the Sonoma Coast, it combines richness, precision and impressive restraint, shaped by estate fruit, full malolactic fermentation and élevage in French oak.

Makuprofiili
The wine shows a luminous, polished appearance and opens with an enticingly layered bouquet of citrus butterscotch, lime zest and mango, lifted by orange blossom, elderflower and honey. On the palate, it is broad yet focused, delivering pear, green apple, orange marmalade, butter and a delicate thread of toasted almond. Despite its generosity, the wine remains beautifully balanced, with coastal freshness keeping the richness in check. It has serious aging potential and should continue to develop over the next 8–9 years, gaining even more depth and complexity with time.

Viininvalmistus
Produced from estate-grown Chardonnay at Wayfarer Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, the wine benefits from a cool maritime terroir that helps preserve acidity and aromatic detail. The grapes are vinified with standard fermentation followed by full malolactic fermentation, then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, 65% of which were new, giving the wine its signature texture, spice and layered complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with rich seafood dishes such as lobster, crab, seared scallops or roasted halibut, as well as creamy poultry dishes, truffle pasta and soft aged cheeses. Serve chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and while decanting is not essential, a short aeration can help open up the aromatic intensity if enjoyed young.
