This limited-release Wayfarer Estate Fort Ross-Seaview Pinot Noir library vertical offers a rare chance to experience four distinct vintages from the cellar in one six-bottle set. Drawn directly from the estate, it showcases both the nuanced evolution and the impressive ageing potential of Wayfarer’s cool-climate Pinot Noir from one of California’s most distinctive coastal sites.

Across the vertical, the wines show remarkable variation and depth. The 2016 vintage is dark and intense, with a developing aromatic profile of forest floor, umami, and raw leather layered over black berries and star anise, while the long, cool growing season contributes mineral precision and structure. The 2017 is warmer and more generous, offering silky tannins and ripe notes of cherry, blueberry, and strawberry jam, lifted by chocolate and a subtle thread of orange peel. The 2018 vintage leans toward freshness and perfume, with lavender, violet, and red berry aromas leading into a palate of pomegranate and ripe cranberry, finishing long and lively. In 2019, the wine becomes more serious and structured, with marionberry, blood orange, baking spice, and hints of fresh gougère and rose petal on the nose; the palate is concentrated and deep, framed by silky tannins and finished with a touch of dark chocolate. Together, the set highlights Pinot Noir’s ability to age gracefully while retaining elegance, detail, and coastal finesse.

Wayfarer’s Fort Ross-Seaview vineyard sits high above the Pacific in a cool, windswept part of western Sonoma County, where fog, marine influence, and a long growing season help preserve acidity and build aromatic complexity. This coastal terroir is especially well suited to Pinot Noir, producing wines with brightness, mineral tension, and layered fruit character. The wines in this library vertical were drawn from the estate cellar, reflecting careful vineyard selection and winemaking designed to capture site expression and ageing potential.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve at 16–18°C and decant briefly if opening a younger bottle from the vertical, especially the 2018 and 2019, to allow the aromatics to open. These wines pair beautifully with roast duck, herb-crusted lamb, mushroom risotto, game birds, or truffle-based dishes, and the more evolved 2016 will also shine with earthy, umami-rich cuisine such as grilled porcini or slow-braised meats.
