Aalto 2016 Magnum

Aalto 2016 Magnum is a mature and expressive take on one of Ribera del Duero’s most respected Tempranillo wines. Made from fruit sourced from old vines and carefully selected parcels, it combines depth, elegance, and the generous format of a magnum to enhance both development and ageing potential.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Aalto 2016 shows a dense, dark colour that hints at its concentration and maturity. The nose is refined and layered, offering ripe black fruit, warm spice, tobacco, and subtle notes of vanilla and roasted coffee. On the palate, the wine is deep and harmonious, with silky tannins, a fresh core, and a long, balanced finish. The 2016 vintage is already drinking beautifully, showing excellent integration and composure, but it still has the structure to evolve further over the next few years. The magnum format can help preserve freshness and extend its ageing potential even more.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit for this wine comes from 40- to 80-year-old vines grown on selected leased vineyards in Ribera del Duero, along with younger vines from Aalto’s own holdings in Valladolid. All grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted, with only the best fruit making it into the final wine. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 16 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak barrels, which adds complexity and structure without overwhelming the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for grilled lamb, roasted beef, venison, game dishes, or rich mushroom-based plates. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C and consider decanting for about 1 hour to allow the aromas and textures to fully open.
