Aalto PS 2018 Magnum

Aalto PS 2018 Magnum is the more concentrated, more powerful expression of Aalto, showing an extra gear in richness, depth, and structure. Made from carefully selected Tempranillo parcels in La Horra and La Aguilera, it captures the intensity and elegance that have made Aalto one of Ribera del Duero’s most respected names. With fruit from very old vines and a long élevage in new French oak, this is a serious wine built for lovers of bold, age-worthy Spanish reds.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it appears almost inky black, promising immediate depth and concentration. The nose is intensely aromatic, with layers of blueberry, blackberry, and dark plum lifted by clear oak influence, together with hints of chocolate and spice. The palate is opulent and expansive, unfolding with blackberry, plum liqueur, liquorice, vanilla, coffee bean, and tobacco. Despite its generosity, the wine remains structured and complex, with plenty of nuance beneath the power. It is already impressive, but it has the backbone and concentration to develop beautifully over time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes for Aalto PS come from selected plots in La Horra and La Aguilera in Castilla y León, an area known for producing deeply concentrated Tempranillo from old vines. The parcels are planted with 60- to 90-year-old vines, which naturally yield very low quantities of highly expressive fruit. Harvest is carried out entirely by hand, followed by careful sorting before vinification. The wine is then aged for 19 months in new French oak barrels, adding richness, polish, and complexity to the final blend.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that calls for rich, flavourful dishes such as dry-aged beef, grilled entrecôte, slow-roasted lamb, or game with deep sauces. If opening it now, serve it at around 16–18°C and decant generously to help the wine open up and soften its youthful structure.
