Château Angelus Saint-Émilion Grand Cru (Premier Grand Cru Classé) 2003

Château Angélus 2003 is a standout vintage from one of Saint-Émilion’s most prestigious estates, classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé. Shaped by the exceptionally warm Bordeaux summer of 2003, it delivers power, richness, and remarkable ripeness, while retaining the elegance and precision that define this celebrated château.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep dark ruby color, hinting at its concentration and maturity. The nose opens with generous aromas of ripe blackberries and dark cherries, layered with roasted coffee beans, cedar, warm spices, and subtle earthy nuance. On the palate, it is full-bodied and intense, with supple tannins and a silky, well-balanced texture. The finish is long and persistent, unfolding notes of dark chocolate, licorice, and lingering dark fruit. While already enjoyable now, it still has the structure to develop further with proper cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
This classic Saint-Émilion blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc reflects the clay- and limestone-driven terroir of the Right Bank, where the vines benefit from excellent drainage and a tempering influence on ripening. The 2003 harvest was shaped by unusual heat, producing grapes with exceptional maturity and concentration, which were carefully selected to preserve balance and finesse. Vinification focused on extracting richness and structure while maintaining the wine’s polished, approachable style.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served with rich dishes such as grilled beef, roast lamb, game, or truffle-based preparations, where its depth and structure can really shine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 1–2 hours if opening now to allow the aromas and texture to open fully.
