Château Haut-Brion 1982

Château Haut-Brion 1982 is one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated First Growths, a wine that captures both the power and the refinement that made this historic estate legendary. From the gravelly terroir of Pessac-Léognan, it combines remarkable depth, elegance, and longevity, and the 1982 vintage remains especially prized for its generosity and charm. As the first Bordeaux estate to sell wine under its own name, Haut-Brion holds a unique place in wine history.

In the glass, Château Haut-Brion 1982 typically shows a mature ruby garnet hue, with the kind of graceful evolution that only great Bordeaux can achieve. The bouquet is complex and evocative, with notes of warm gravel, forest floor, brown autumn leaves, bay leaf, black olive, and preserved dark fruit, all layered with subtle earthy and smoky nuances. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and beautifully textured, with fine, integrated tannins and a sense of calm, polished power. The fruit is now framed by tertiary notes of spice, leather, tobacco, and mineral tones, giving the wine superb complexity and poise. Bottles with excellent provenance can still offer many years of enjoyment, as this vintage has the structure and balance to age gracefully well beyond expectation.

Viininvalmistus
Château Haut-Brion is located in Pessac, just outside Bordeaux, on a terroir of deep gravel soils that help produce wines of remarkable finesse, aromatic complexity, and aging capacity. The estate’s red vineyards are planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, with grapes harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and carefully sorted before vinification. After destemming, fermentation begins in temperature-controlled vats, and the best lots are then matured in new oak barrels for 20 to 24 months, allowing the wine to develop depth, structure, and elegance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an exceptional wine for refined dishes such as roast lamb, beef Wellington, duck breast, truffle risotto, game birds, or aged hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16-18°C, and if the bottle is in good condition, a gentle decanting 30 to 60 minutes before serving can help bring out its aromas without stripping away its mature character.
