Château Latour 2001

Château Latour 2001 is a superb example of why this Pauillac First Growth has earned its legendary status. Powerful yet composed, it combines deep Cabernet Sauvignon character with remarkable finesse, offering the classic structure, intensity, and longevity collectors expect from one of Bordeaux’s most iconic estates.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-purple core that still retains impressive depth and brightness. The bouquet is layered and inviting, with aromas of blackcurrant, crushed stones, vanilla, truffle, and subtle oak spice unfolding with air. On the palate, Château Latour 2001 is full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully balanced, with polished tannins and vibrant acidity carrying flavours of dark berries, earthy minerals, cedar, and a gentle sweetness of fruit. Despite its accessibility, this is a wine built for the long haul and has the structure to age gracefully for many years, developing additional complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
Château Latour is located on the gravelly soils of Pauillac, where deep gravel and clay, topped with large rounded stones, create ideal conditions for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the estate now farms organically across its historic 78 hectares. Grapes are harvested and vinified with great precision to preserve purity, structure, and the estate’s hallmark depth and refinement.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, duck, or richly flavoured mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting in advance to allow the wine to open and fully express its aromatic complexity, especially if enjoyed in its youth.

Château Latour is one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates, with roots dating back to the 14th century and a reputation cemented when it was classified as a Premier Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Located in Pauillac on the Left Bank, it is known for producing some of the most powerful and long-lived wines in the region. Since 1993, the estate has been owned by François Pinault, and in recent years it has further strengthened its standing through a strong commitment to sustainable, organic viticulture.
