Château Latour 2006 Magnum

Château Latour 2006 Magnum is a commanding Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most legendary estates, offering both power and remarkable finesse in a format built for long cellaring. With Cabernet Sauvignon at its core, the wine shows the depth, structure and aromatic complexity that have made Latour one of the most celebrated names in fine wine for centuries.

In the glass, it is deep garnet with a dense, almost opaque core, hinting at the concentration beneath. The nose opens with blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum, followed by layers of cedar, tobacco leaf, graphite, dried flowers, smoke and warm spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet beautifully composed, with firm, polished tannins and a precise line of fresh acidity. Expect ripe cassis, black fruit, mineral notes and a savoury, lightly smoky character that builds toward a long, perfumed finish. While already showing well, the 2006 vintage in magnum has the structure and balance to age gracefully for decades.

Viininvalmistus
Château Latour’s vineyards lie on the gravel-rich soils of Pauillac, where deep gravel, clay and rounded stones store heat and help Cabernet Sauvignon achieve full ripeness. The estate’s careful approach to viticulture emphasizes the relationship between vine, soil and environment, and the property has been fully organically farmed since 2015, with horse ploughing helping preserve soil vitality. The wine is traditionally crafted from a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot adding nuance and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an exceptional match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, entrecôte, duck breast, game dishes or truffle-infused sauces, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended for at least 1–2 hours if opening now, especially to allow the bouquet and texture to fully раскрыve in this magnum format.
