Chateau Latour Pauillac de Latour 2019

Château Latour Pauillac de Latour 2019 is an elegant and approachable expression of one of Bordeaux’s most legendary estates. Often praised for its earlier drinkability compared with the grand vin, it still carries the unmistakable Pauillac signature of cassis, cigar box, smoke, and graphite.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-red colour with plenty of youthful energy. The nose opens with blackcurrant, ripe cherry, and kirsch, layered with subtle notes of cigar leaf, smoky tar, and a touch of savoury cedar. On the palate it is generous and fruit-driven, with a smooth structure and well-integrated tannins that make it immediately appealing while still giving it the backbone expected from Château Latour. The finish is refined and persistent, with a distinct mineral and smoky edge. While enjoyable in its youth, it should also develop added complexity over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
Pauillac de Latour is produced from grapes drawn from the estate’s vineyards in Pauillac, where gravelly soils help create wines with structure, finesse, and classic Left Bank character. The blend typically varies by vintage, but Merlot usually plays the leading role, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and at least a small proportion of Cabernet Franc. Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel and large oak vats, followed by blending and up to 16 months of ageing in barrels that have previously been used for other Latour wines, with fining carried out using fresh egg whites before bottling.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is a natural match for roast lamb, grilled entrecôte, duck breast, beef tenderloin, or game dishes, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if opening young, to allow the aromas to open and the tannins to soften.
