Château Lynch-Bages 2009 Magnum

Château Lynch-Bages 2009 in magnum is a standout Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most consistently admired estates. A powerful blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, it combines concentration, plush texture, and remarkable structure, while the large-format bottle promises especially graceful ageing. In a region defined by prestige and longevity, this vintage is already celebrated as one of the estate’s finest modern releases.

Makuprofiili
Deep ruby in the glass, this vintage opens with an expressive nose of blackberry, blackcurrant, and dark plum, layered with cedar, graphite, and subtle spice. The palate is broad and richly textured, showing ripe cassis, juicy dark berries, polished tannins, and a generous, velvety mouthfeel, all carried by impressive depth and balance. Despite its power, the wine avoids heaviness, finishing long and composed with a classic Pauillac frame. In magnum, it has excellent ageing potential and should continue to evolve beautifully for decades, gaining complexity, savoury nuance, and finesse over time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the Bages plateau just southwest of Pauillac, where the gravelly terroir is ideally suited to Cabernet Sauvignon and supports a small but important proportion of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The vineyard is divided into numerous parcels, allowing careful matching of each plot to its best expression. Harvesting is done by hand, followed by destemming and rigorous sorting before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then matured for 15 to 18 months in up to 75% new oak barrels, depending on the vintage.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine made for rich dishes such as grilled ribeye, roast lamb, beef Wellington, or game with a deep sauce, as well as hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine’s aromatic complexity and structured tannins to open fully.

Château Lynch-Bages is one of Pauillac’s most respected estates and has been owned by the Cazes family since 1939, when Jean-Charles Cazes transformed a neglected property into a benchmark Bordeaux château. Today the estate is known for its consistency, scale, and quality, with around 100 hectares on the Bages plateau. It holds a strong reputation in the region and is widely recognised for producing long-lived wines of classic Left Bank character.
